Dr. Michael A. Buzbee is a native Texan, born in Waco. With over a dozen high school honors including being voted Most Likely to Succeed and the Highest Ranking Male Student, he left the farm to obtain a Bachelor of Science from University of Houston. He was accepted and completed his Doctor of Optometry degree from U of H College of Optometry, graduating with Summa Sum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Honors.
Dr. Buzbee performed a clinical externship at the Carswell Air Force Base Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX and afterward immediately came to Odessa, TX to work with Dr. Leslie Cook. After two years he decided to open his own eye clinic at the current location on Grandview Ave. in Odessa.
Dr. Buzbee was in the first group of Texas Optometrists to become a Therapeutic Optometrist and also in the first group to be trained and licensed as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is committed to lifetime learning and so is also one of the few Texas optometrists to be board certified by the American Board of Optometry.
Licensed and practicing at the highest level of Texas Law with over 35 years clinical experience, Dr. Buzbee is well equipped to handle whatever eye or vision problem might present itself with the latest information and the latest technology.
Dr. Buzbee was instrumental in establishing the Para-Optometric Section of the Texas Optometric Association and has been a 35 year member of the TOA and the American Optometric Association. He is a past president of the West Texas Optometric Association.
Dr. Buzbee loves Optometry, Karaoke, Computer Technology, Database Programming, his children Trevor and Morgan and his wife of one year Karen.
